It’s Friday and you know what that means; time to dust off that AC because it officially summertime! Welcome back to New on Netflix, your weekly update on the spooky films and TV shows added to Netflix’s library. The streaming giant’s horror department has always been a mixed bag. However, I’d say they’ve really stepped up their game in the last couple of years with the release of amazing, essential watches. We’ve been treated to must see original programming like The Haunting of Hill House, Velvet Buzzsaw, Hush, and some of the classics we all know and love.
Awake
Arriving on June 9th is sci-fi thriller Awake. Global hysteria ensues after a mysterious catastrophe wipes out all electronics and takes away humanity’s ability to sleep. Scientists race against the clock to find a cure for the unexplained insomnia before its fatal effects eliminate the human race. When Jill, a former soldier, discovers her young daughter may be the key to salvation, she must decide whether to protect her children at all costs or sacrifice everything to save the world.
A Haunted House 2
And arriving on June 10th is horror comedy A Haunted House 2. Marlon Wayans is back and once again find himself facing off against paranormal beings when he moves into a new home with his girlfriend and her children. Only this time, it’s not just the house that’s haunted. A demon has attached itself to Malcolm, and shows no signs of letting go.
