Sigourney Weaver Hasn’t Given Up on Neil Blomkamp’s Alien Sequel

Alien - Rebecca Ferguson - Alien 5 - Alien Identity

In a new interview with Variety, Sigourney Weaver was asked about the status of Neil Blomkamp’s Alien sequel. While the actress didn’t have overwhelmingly positive news to share, she remains hopeful that the film will someday get made.

I hope that Neill Blomkamp and I will eventually get back to it,” Weaver told the outlet. “He’s written such a wonderful script. I look forward to finishing Ripley’s story.

As we previously reported, Neill Blomkamp’s Alien project was in a holding pattern pending the completion of the upcoming Prometheus sequel. But the director then announced that he would be backing away from the project for the foreseeable future.

Blomkamp’s Alien sequel was previously expected to see a 2017 release but at this point, it’s anyone’s guess if the film will even be made.
