In a week that’s already given us our first, tantalising glimpse of Idris Elba as Roland Deschain in The Dark Tower, you would be forgiven for thinking no further info on the hugely-anticipated adaptation would be forthcoming. However, in a recent podcast with EW, King revealed a little bit more on the upcoming flick. In particular, the author teased that some fans might not be too pleased with the finished product:
[The film] starts sort of in media res, in the middle of the story instead of the beginning.. [It]…may upset some of the fans a little bit
The Dark Tower is currently in production in Cape Town, South Africa. Nikolaj Arcel is directing, from a script he co-wrote with Anders Thomas Jensen, Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinker.
Elba stars alongside Matthew McConaughey as The Man In Black, as well as Fran Kanz, Jackie Earle Haley, Tom Taylor and Abbey Lee.
Past reports have alluded to a film series based on the property, that would also include a TV mini series that would run in between feature film installments. So, if this movie does well, there will be a lot more Dark Tower to come.
The Dark Tower is slated for release on February 17th, 2017. Stay tuned to Wicked Horror for all the need-to-know info as the story develops.
