It’s been a couple months since we’ve had any definitive details on the upcoming second season of Netflix super-hit Stranger Things, which is due to hit the streaming service in Halloween of this year. Now, fresh out of San Diego Comic Con 2017, we have a trailer to drool over.
In a recent chat with Gold Derby, producer Sean Levy teased that the new monster would make the Demogorgon “look quaint in retrospect”. Likewise, star Finn Wolfhard told Emmys magazine that the new season would be more “horror-oriented” and “darker”.
The newly-released trailer seems to confirm both sentiments, giving us, first and foremost, a glimpse of a horrifying (and huge) new monster. It’s also scored by Michael Jackson’s Thriller, not to mention loaded with fun eighties references (it’s set just one year after the events of the first season, in the fall of 1984.).
Also, Eleven pops up, which should make worried diehards happy.
The official synopsis for season two is as follows:
It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the Demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived
Linnea Berthelsen, The Goonies‘s Sean Astin, Aliens’ Paul Reiser, Brett Gelman, Linnea Berthelsen, Dacre Montgomery, Will Chase, Rob Morgan, and Sadie Sink are all set to star alongside returning cast-members Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, and Charlie Heaton.
Netflix previously revealed season two will premiere on the streaming service on October 31, 2017.

The first season of Stranger Things revolved around the disappearance of a young boy. It followed the plight of the boy’s family and friends who dedicate their lives to finding him after he vanishes. What the boy’s friends and family soon discovered was that there was much more to his disappearance than meets the eye. They learned that government agencies, and supernatural forces all played a key role in the lad’s disappearance.
Season two has been hotly-anticipated pretty much since everyone finished bingeing the first one.
