The hugely anticipated third season return of cult TV phenomenon Twin Peaks has just wrapped principal photography, which is good news for anyone who thinks the 2017 release date seems cruelly far away.
We previously brought you news of some exciting additions to the cast, including Ashley Judd, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Naomi Watts, who will join returning stars such as Lynch himself, Ray Wise and, of course, Kyle MacLachlan.
Now, the full, 217-strong Twin Peaks cast has been revealed in all its drool-inducing glory. Slated to take a trip into the unknown next year are the likes of Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera, David Koechner, Trent Reznor (!), Eddie Vedder (!!), Tim Roth, Jessica Szohr and loads more.
Horror fans will spot Icons including Derek Mears, Meg Foster and Matthew Lillard, along with talented youngsters such as Francesca Eastwood (Final Girl), Sara Paxton (The Innkeepers, Cheap Thrills), Sky Ferreira (The Green Inferno) and Jane Levy (Evil Dead).
The series is slated for a limited run, beginning in early 2017, on Showtime. The premiere is expected to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the series’ original bow on ABC, and will be broadcast simultaneously on-air, on demand and over the internet.
The third season of the super-popular show is being written and produced by creators and producers David Lynch and Mark Frost, with Lynch taking directing duties by himself (as it should be). The action is due to pick up twenty five years after the events of the first two seasons.
Twin Peaks followed the exploits of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who was sent to the logging town of Twin Peaks to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer. The show lasted for two seasons and developed a massive cult following. Since it was cancelled prior to the the story-line being completed, a movie, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, was released in 1992.
