Sony’s upcoming re-imagining of classic sci-fi thriller Flatliners already has two, fairly big names attached in Ellen Page (Juno, Inception) and Diego Luna (Elysium, Contraband). And now, according to Deadline, The Vampire Diaries alumnus Nina Dobrev is in talks to star alongside them.
Dobrev exited the hit TV show after six seasons last year, and has since clocked up starring roles in a variety of movies including The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Let’s Be Cops and even last year’s slasher horror comedy The Final Girls.
Flatliners is based on the 1990 hit movie of the same name. It’s set to be directed by Niels Arden Oplev, who helmed the original Swedish adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, from a screenplay by Ben Ripley (Source Code). Dobrev is tapped to play Marlo, an overachiever who is at the top of her class.
The original movie focused on a group of medical students, who conduct near-death experiments in order to travel into an alternative dimension, and featured a starry cast including Julia Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland and Kevin Bacon.
