Deceived offers all the best of what horror audiences enjoy in a 1990s thriller with an engaging mystery full of twists and turns. Furthermore, this feature contains excellent performances by stars Goldie Hawn and John Heard. Hawn’s performance is a pleasing surprise, as the actress is primarily known for her comedic skills; however, she delivers a subtle but sound performance as Adrienne without losing any of the natural charisma that draws audiences into the role. Ultimately, this makes film more terrifying, as we become invested in Adrienne’s plight throughout this 90s thriller.
