Faye Dunaway portrays the titular Laura Mars in this compelling feature directed by Irvin Kershner. Laura Mars is fashion’s latest “it” photographer. With an eye for combining glamor and violence, Laura’s work centers on a trend of brutality that is being utilized for high-art advertising. Lately, her visions through the camera have led to visions through the eyes of a killer. A killer that is targeting everyone in Laura’s professional and personal life. Laura is forced to witness each of these attacks through her unwelcome visions, and she seeks help from Lieutenant John Neville (Tommy Lee Jones). Her passion for the lieutenant is matched only by her desire to survive as the killer closes in.

Based on an initial screenplay by John Carpenter, Eyes of Laura Mars is a neo-noir thriller mystery that is an engaging commentary on sex and violence in the media. At the same time, this flick is a stylish look at the darkness of New York in the 1970s and is a precursor to the oncoming POV slashers of the 1980s.
