A new monster is about to appear in Hawkins, Indiana and according to Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy, it will make the Demogorgon look quaint in hindsight.
In a recent chat with Gold Derby, Levy was fairly vague about what we can expect from the second season of the series, other than to suggest that there Will Byers will have his hands full and the monster will be something to take note of.
“I’m so forbidden to say so very much,” Levy said. “Will Byers is very much at the centre of several intersecting challenges and threats in season 2. And I think overall the kind of forces of evil that are inherent in season 2 make that Demogorgon look quaint in retrospect.”
Newcomer Linnea Berthelsen, Sean Astin (The Goonies), Paul Reiser (Aliens), Sadie Sink (The Americans), and Dark Montgomery (Power Rangers) have all been confirmed as joining the new season. Much of the cast from the first season is returning, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Millie Bobby Brown, and Charlie Heaton.
Netflix perviously revealed that the second season will pick up in the fall of 1984. It will premiere on the streaming service on October 31, 2017.
The first season of the program revolves around the disappearance of a young boy. It follows the plight of the boy’s family and friends who dedicate their lives to finding him after he vanishes. What the boy’s friends and family soon discover is that there is much more to his disappearance than meets the eye. They learn that government agencies, and supernatural forces play a key role in the lad’s disappearance.
