Author Sean Hughes has created a charming storybook based on Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead 2 called The Littlest Deadite. To say that the illustrations are exceptional would be an understatement. Hughes captures the magic of Sam Raimi’s film and perfectly translates it to the singsong format of a children’s book.
The nine-page story follows a very little Deadite on his quest to swallow a soul. When he does not succeed at first, he remains undeterred until he finds the soul he seeks.
One of the many things I love about this tome is the fact that it features Ash’s Oldsmobile in a supporting role. It certainly goes without saying, but just in case it wasn’t obvious, this book is not intended for children.
Rather than publishing the story in print, Hughes has made it available free of charge on his website. It is an absolute delight to read but don’t take my word for it. Check it out for yourself, below.
