In a super-exciting press announcement yesterday, January 24, 2017, video-game juggernaut Capcom boasts that “THE NEXT ERA OF HORROR BEGINS TODAY WITH THE RELEASE OF RESIDENT EVIL 7”. And, it very well might be. The full game is available TODAY, either via digital download or a hard retail copy on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and even for PlayStation VR mode (if you’re brave enough).
Capcom also gave us a full description of the game, which is as follows:
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard introduces players to Ethan Winters, who has been led to Dulvey, Louisiana in search of his missing wife. There he comes upon a sinister and supposedly abandoned plantation. Upon entering the property it becomes clear that there are secrets to unveil and all is not as it seems. Ethan soon encounters the mysterious Baker family, who have been missing from the area for some time. Will Ethan ever be reunited with his wife? Players will unfold all the secrets behind the mysterious plot as they embark on this truly terrifying and unpredictable survival horror experience.
Further exciting news, that dropped shortly after the launch, revealed there will be optionally downloadable content: Banned Footage Vol. 1 and Banned Footage Vol. 2 which will provide the player with two additional scenarios and an “extra bonus mode for players to dive even deeper into the terrifying game world.”
Furthermore, another story episode entitled Not a Hero will be released “for free to all players in 2017.” All of this is enormously exciting and overwhelming, but let us get out there and solve the mystery of the Baker Family.
