We have just learned that Kathy Bates will be returning as a series regular on season five of American Horror Story, which will be known as American Horror Story: Hotel. Bates previously appeared on both Coven and Freak Show. She joins recently announced cast members Lady Gaga and Chloe Sevigny.
Series creator Ryan Murphy took to Twitter to make the announcement today. Very little is known about the storyline of the fifth season at this point. But speculations have already been made that this will be a loose retelling of the crimes of serial killer H.H. Holmes and his “Murder Castle”.
