While doing press for Krampus, Michael Dougherty took a moment to provide a status update on the long-gestated Trick ‘R Treat 2. He revealed that his plan is to redirect his attention to the follow up to his 2009 Halloween anthology in the near future. Head inside for full details!
The director told Bloody Disgusting: “Trick ‘r Treat 2 is a really rough outline at the moment, my hope is now to turn my attention back to Sam and Halloween, so yeah, fingers crossed.”
Earlier this year, Dougherty had said that the project was still on his radar but that it had to be put on hold because of Krampus. He said that he wanted to get Krampus made before the trend peaked but that he still had plans to bring Trick ‘R Treat 2 to life when the timing is right. And it sounds like he plans to make good on his word.
Trick ‘R Treat was a surprise hit on home video in 2009. It follows a variety of individuals on Halloween as they go about navigating the spookiest night of the year. The film took a somewhat unconventional approach to anthology storytelling by overlapping and intertwining the vignettes.
