Watch the Wayward Pines Pilot Three Weeks Early

Wayward Pines

The pilot for the M. Night Shyamalan produced limited series Wayward Pines is being made available online a month in advance of the series’ actual network television premiere on Fox. The show is adapted from Blake Crouch’s novels. You can get a sneak peek at the first episode between now and April 30 by clicking here.

If you are unfamiliar with the series, you can check out the trailer below. If you don’t see the innumerable Twin Peaks references, you may not be paying attention. While the producers have cited Twin Peaks as an inspiration, I am inclined to see it as a case of slightly more than that. The plot certainly branches out on its own but the basic setup, the location, the name of the show, the quirkiness, the musical cues, the cinematography, and more could have been almost directly ripped from the David Lynch series. However, I will attempt to reserve final judgment until actually seeing how the entire series unfolds.

Wayward Pines

Wayward Pines features an impressive cast that includes Matt Dillon,  Carla Gugino, Terrence Howard, Juliette Lewis, Shannyn Sossamon, Toby Jones and Hope Davis.

The show centers around a special agent (Matt Dillon) who travels to Wayward Pines, Idaho in search of two secret service agents that have gone missing. While there, he discovers that there is a conspiracy behind the seemingly quaint town that may keep him from ever getting out alive.

The series will make its broadcast premiere May 14th at 9/8 Central on Fox. Stay tuned to the site between now and then for more news on the series as it is announced.
