After years of waiting and many false starts, the long-gestured Zombieland 2 is finally coming together. And we have your first round of casting news to prove it!
Deadline is reporting that Zoey Deutch (The Disaster Artist) will be costarring in the upcoming sequel. The outlet also revealed that Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin are all confirmed to reprise their roles.
Deutch is set to play a love interest to Jesse Eisenberg’s Columbus. This flies in stark contrast to the seemingly happy ending of the first film and suggests that things must not have worked out between Columbus and Wichita.
Zombieland 2 will reportedly see the cast doing battle with new kinds of zombies that have appeared since the conclusion of the first film and coming across a variety of new human survivors as well. The project is slated to shoot next year and is expected to see release October 11, 2019.
The sequel script will be penned by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool) Original director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) will be back to helm Zombieland 2.

Zombieland was adapted as an Amazon Prime pilot a few years ago but the content provider declined to take it to series, stating that their demographic wasn’t necessarily the right fit for the Zombieland target audience. Stay tuned to the site in the coming months for more on this project as it is announced.
The first film takes place in a post-apocolyptic reality where almost all residents of the US have been turned into bloodthirsty zombies. A group of four survivors band together in an attempt to take on the undead and live another day. The group is comprised of a young man trying to return to his hometown to reunite with his family, a loner in search of the last Twinkie on earth, and two young ladies on their way to an amusement park.
